Stephan Theron , , B.Comm, CGA , , President and Chief Executive Officer

Over 10 years of extensive management, project finance and equity analysis experience in the mining, energy and infrastructure sectors. Previous capital and project experience includes Weir PLC and AMEC PLC. Former sector head materials and energy with a specific focus on South African coal market. Mr Theron is a CGA and has a bachelor of commerce from the University of Johannesburg.

Malcolm Campbell , , , Chief Operating Officer

Fourth generation coal miner with 25 years industry experience and is skilled in operational management, turnaround strategies and business development. Spent more than 20 years with Anglo Coal. During his tenure there, Mr. Campbell was the Regional Manager for New Business Development and Strategy where he headed up the team developing conceptual, pre-feasibility and feasibility studies for all Southern African greenfields projects as well as brownfield expansions at existing operations. He was also General Manager at a number of collieries, both opencast and underground, for Anglo Coal. Mr. Campbell is a Professional Certified Mining Engineer and holds a B.Sc. in Mining Engineering from the University of Witwatersrand. He is also currently a member of the South African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and the South African Colliery Managers Association - having served on the Council for two terms.

Kudakwashe Muchenje , , , Vice President, Exploration & Development, Africa Operations

Seasoned exploration geologist with over 15 years experience in generating exploration targets and managing exploration and evaluation programs. Former Mozambique Country Manager for Rio Tinto where he was responsible for managing the exploration and evaluation of large mineral sands resources in the country and was also involved in the generation of coal exploration targets in Mozambique and Southern Africa. Mr. Muchenje holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Geology and Mineral Exploration, respectively.

Deb Battiston , , , Chief Financial Officer

Deborah Battiston is a Certified General Accountant with over 25 years of accounting and financial management experience. Ms Battison is the Chief Financial Officer of a number of Canadian public mining companies with interest in a variety of foreign jurisdictions. Ms. Battiston obtained a B.A. in Economics from the University of Guelph.

Sarah Williams , , , Vice President Finance

Chartered Accountant (SA) with nine years experience in the corporate finance industry. Her expertise is in the resource sector where she played key roles in company listings and IPOs, mergers and acquisitions, restructurings and debt and equity capital raisings. She has advised on numerous transactions in the coal, gold, diamonds and iron ore sectors. Prior to joining Forbes Coal, Mrs. Williams was with Sasfin Bank, a South African bank listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange. Before Sasfin Bank, Mrs. Williams held positions with boutique and major finance advisory groups.

Kevern Mattison , , , General Manager - Slater Coal Operations

Mr. Kevern Mattison is a professional certificated Mining Engineer with more than twenty four years of coal mining experience. Previously, Mr. Mattison was with Anglo American, where he started his coal mining career at its New Denmark Colliery in 1989. He progressed through the ranks and worked at most of the Anglo American Thermal Coal operations namely New Denmark Colliery, New Vaal Colliery, Arnot Colliery, Kriel Colliery, Bank Colliery, Isbonelo Colliery and Goedehoop Colliery. Most recently Mr. Mattison was Manager Mining at Kleinkopje Colliery. Mr. Mattison has experience in both underground as well as opencast operations and has managed operations covering a wide spectrum of mining methods. He currently is the South African Colliery Managers Associations Southern Region Chairman.

Bill Lamont , , , Sales and Marketing Manager

Coal marketing specialist with more than 30 years experience. Mr. Lamont most recently operated as an independent consultant, and was until early 2011 employed as Managing Director of Mhlatuze Bay Coal Administrators, a company set up to assist junior coal mining companies with their export endeavours. Previous positions include director of the Transvaal Coal Owners Association and marketing with Rand Mines (now Billiton Energy Coal South Africa). Marketing responsibilities varied from direct marketing and price negotiation with export customers, through technical product support with both consumers and production units. Was also a member, at various times, of the technical and operations committees of Richards Bay Coal Terminal, as well as an alternate (active) board membership. Mr. Lamont’s undergraduate studies were in geology and he received his Masters in Business form the University of South Africa.

Neil Said , , , Corporate Secretary

Corporate securities lawyer who works as a legal consultant to various TSX and TSX Venture listed companies in the mining and oil & gas industries. He previously worked as a securities lawyer at a large Toronto corporate law firm, where he worked on a variety of corporate and commercial transactions. Mr. Said obtained a Juris Doctor from the Faculty of Law at the University of Toronto and he received a Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) with a minor in Economics from Wilfrid Laurier University.
